FRAT (Folate Receptor Antibody) Test by ReligenDX
The FRAT® test measures autoantibodies against the folate receptor, which can interfere with the transport of folate into cells. Folate plays a critical role in neurological development, cognitive function, and cellular metabolism. When folate receptor antibodies are present, they may block or disrupt normal folate delivery to tissues, particularly in the brain.
This specialized blood test detects both blocking and binding folate receptor antibodies, providing insight into potential immune-related disruptions in folate metabolism. Identifying these antibodies can help guide targeted nutritional or therapeutic strategies aimed at restoring proper folate utilization.
What the Test Covers
The FRAT® panel evaluates:
• Folate receptor blocking antibodies
• Folate receptor binding antibodies
Why Consider FRAT Testing
• Detects antibodies that may interfere with folate transport into cells
• Measures both blocking and binding folate receptor antibodies
• May provide insight into certain neurological and developmental conditions
• Supports development of targeted nutritional or therapeutic strategies
Developed by Dr. Edward Quadros, the FRAT® test is a specialized tool for investigating immune-related disruptions in folate metabolism and guiding more personalized approaches to care.
